QUESTION:
How do you know that events teh bible says happened in the old testiment really happened? I mean like moses parting the sea and stuff?
RESPONSE:
Dear Anonymous,
Your question is a fair one that deserves a fair answer. There are concepts and events written in both the old and new testaments that we as Christians must accept as truth by faith (otherwise, can we really call Christianity a faith?) Likewise, there are concepts and events we don't understand that, for now, only God can. This is okay, and really, God never minds that we ask him.
Nevertheless, there are historical events written in the bible that are backed by sources outside of the Bible. For example, I just completed a European History class at a local community college whereby the textbook writes about Abraham coming out of the land of Ur. The biblical book of Genesis confirms this very thing. Furthermore, the college textbook writes about the time Jesus Christ was crucified on the cross, which was the Roman Empire's ultimate form (as well as slowest and most painful form) of execution. Everyone knows the bible backs this historical event up. Even today, many unbelieving scientists are still trying to find the remains of Jesus Christ and have been unsuccessful (confirming the biblical account of his resurrection).
Although history books outside of Christianity confirms much of what is written in the bible, there are also news articles and publications written that confirm biblical events. For example, many archeologists believe that the large wooden craft on the face of Mount Ararat in northeast Turkey is Noah's Ark. (http://www.wnd.com/index.php?fa=PAGE.view&pageId=3446).
As for Moses parting the Red Sea, here's a link that you might find interesting:

(It talks about the discovery of Pharaoh's chariot wheel at the bottom of the Red Sea)
As for the events that have not been verified, we can only hope that one day they will be. Google it. You might be surprised.
